If you are experiencing issues when playing a disc (game, Blu-Ray, DVD, CD) on the PlayStation 3 system, try these troubleshooting options:

Try playing different CDs, DVDs, and games on the PlayStation system to see if the problem exists across multiple discs.

To determine if the problem is with the disc itself, try playing the disc on a different PlayStation system. If the disc continues to malfunction, it might need to be replaced or resurfaced. www.VideoGame911.com can resurface discs for our customers. If the disc does function properly, the PlayStation system will need service from www.videogame911.com. This is commonly caused by dust build up on the laser or partial/total laser failure. Adjustments are also sometimes necessary for optimum disc reading.

Confirm that you are not using any game modification devices. Unlicensed devices such as game modification devices can interfere with the proper function of the software. We do not recommend the use of any game modification devices or unlicensed products.

Confirm the disc is clean. To clean a disc, use lint-free cleaning cloths made specifically for cleaning CD/DVD discs, sold at computer software stores. When cleaning the disc, we recommend starting from the innermost circle, and wiping out to the edge in a straight line. We do not recommend wiping in a circular motion, as it may create more scratches on the disc.
Other materials, such as a paper towel or a T-shirt, may also scratch the disc. If there are any scratches, smudges, or fingerprints on the disc, it may not function properly.

Confirm the disc is inserted correctly into the PlayStation system (label side should be facing up when the PlayStation system is in the horizontal position).

If the screens get dark, the backlight can switch off for two reasons:
The settings for the system are set to have the backlight off.
The backlight also turns off if the alarm is set.
If none of the steps above solve the problem, your system will need to be repaired. Submit a repair order

If you see lines on either screen of your Nintendo DS Lite during game play, then it is likely one or more of the components that create the image on the screen are damaged.
